Take 5 with Zions Talent: Colby Haupt
A love of helping solve financial problems and Zions Bank’s stellar reputation motivated him to join the Zions Wealth team in St. George.
Meet Colby Haupt: A member of the Zions Wealth team, comic book collector and proud husband and father.
In the latest installment of our “Take 5 with Zions Talent” series, Colby discusses his professional accomplishments, what attracted him to Zions Bank, and the person who motivates and inspires him.
What do you enjoy about working as a member of the Zions Wealth team?
I love solving financial problems whether they are small or complex. I’ve worked to help grandma and grandpa in retirement all the way to mergers and acquisitions, buyouts and liquidation events.
It’s fun to see the change that occurs in people when they realize they can retire sooner than they had originally thought.
It’s also rewarding to see people who are selling businesses create generational wealth that can bless their family forever.
I get a lot of joy out of helping people realize that by planning you can live better.
What drew you to join Zions Bank?
Recently I decided to take stock of my life and what I wanted it to be. What I love to do is help people individually, not manage people or marketing campaigns. And who in Utah doesn’t know the high-quality brand reputation of Zions Bank? I also have a friend who works at Zions Bank and speaks so highly of the culture, and he’s been here for 30 years.
What is your proudest professional accomplishment?
At my prior firm I helped launch five exchange-traded funds and got to ring the closing bell for the NYSE and the NASDAQ during my time there.
What financial tip would you give to your younger self?
Colby and Jaylin Haupt rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Aug. 27, 2024.
I would say don’t buy the Xbox buy Amazon stock instead. If I had put $1,000 into Amazon 20 years ago, today I would have $132,000.
What motivates and inspires you?
100% my wife. She motivates and inspires me to be my best.
What is something unique about you?
I like to collect comic books. I am the proud owner of Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27, which feature the first appearances of Superman and Batman, respectively.
A member of the Zions Wealth team can help you build a comprehensive financial plan. If you’re in the St. George area, you can reach out directly to Colby at 435-817-4957 or visit our website to schedule an appointment.
