Brad Sheppard is executive vice president of Business and Consumer Banking for Zions Bank’s Retail Division, a position he has held since August 2016. He oversees the bank’s Western Idaho, Eastern Idaho/Wyoming, Northern Utah, and Jordan River retail regions.
A native of Salina, Utah, Sheppard gained a strong work ethic while working with his father and grandfathers on their farms. His 45-year career in banking began as a commercial lender at First State Bank in Salina. He joined Zions Bank in 1978 when Zions purchased First State Bank. While living in Salina, Sheppard also served as a volunteer emergency medical technician for seven years and was president of the Salina Chamber of Commerce.
In 1981, he became the manager of Zions Bank’s Cottonwood Mall office in Salt Lake City. Additional roles in the bank have included area manager, commercial lender, regional credit manager, region president and most recently as the senior director of Retail Banking.
In 1996, Sheppard took a sabbatical leave from banking and served his church as a mission president in Salvador, Brazil until 1999. Upon his return, he continued his career with Zions Bank as a senior vice president over the South Salt Lake Region.
Active in the community, Sheppard is an avid supporter of United Way of Salt Lake and served as a loaned executive to the organization. He is also involved with the Huntsman Cancer Foundation and served on the board of the Children’s Service Society of Utah.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brigham Young University.
He and his wife, Debra, have eight children and currently 23 grandchildren.
In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his sons, playing golf and traveling.
