TAPPED

The inspiration for Joel Cohen’s business, Tapped, came after he and his wife, Christine, moved to Moscow, Idaho, in 2005. They missed having a place to go to enjoy a large selection of quality beers and fresh food in a hip environment. So Cohen decided to create one. In partnership with Caleb Applegate, the two launched Tapped, which opened its doors in October 2015 and now employs more than 30 people.

Visitors to Tapped can enjoy its ambience while eating a tasty meal and drinking craft beer on tap. Tapped offers a selection of 25 regional craft brews, mostly from the Northwest, and 10 different wines and hard cider, all on tap. For nondrinkers, there’s kombucha, iced tea, root beer and cold press coffee.

When creating his tap house, Cohen went to great lengths to capture the right atmosphere. He lived in Eugene, Oregon, for three years where he helped open ColdFire Brewery and got in touch with the craft-brewing scene. Portland is considered to be the mecca of the U.S. craft beer industry. These connections were important in creating Tapped, especially since some of them now supply his brews.

One of the most popular and beloved menu items at Tapped is its hamburger, available in five different styles. The French fries are another not-to-be-missed offering, hand cut and seasoned with herb salt. Cohen recently brought on Chef Tom Moreira, a Brazilian native and graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, who is introducing new and delicious dishes to the menu. Be sure to look for Tapped’s buffalo wings and jalapeno poppers as part of its new happy hour, along with a deal to buy two beers and get a third free.

Tapped is for anybody who wants to enjoy a great dining experience, a casual date night or get together with friends.
