In recent years, St. George has become a top mountain biking destination, so much so, that mountain biking is a huge economic driver. That motivated city leaders to invest $800,000 to create an outstanding, year-round bike park, Snake Hollow Bike Park. It’s the only park of its kind in the state and sits on 80 acres.

This is a world-class bicycle skills park where you’ll find hundreds of features for bikers of all levels and abilities. Snake Hollow Bike Park has different skills zones: a dirt jump zone, pump track and skills loop, plus areas to practice gravity skills, like riding downhill or jumping. These are designed to give bikers the chance to practice riding in all types of terrain. There’s also paved trails throughout Snake Hollow for traditional cycling. Shane McAfee (mac-uh-fee), director of leisure services for St. George, says it’s a lot of fun and the cycling community has embraced the park.

Southern Utah is famous for mountain biking and hiking, and since nearly every high school has a mountain biking team, Utah has more teams than any other state, which is contributing to the success of Snake Hollow Bike Park. This winter, the city will start Phase 2, which incorporates paved parking lots, more pavilions and a Strider bike course for kids.
