Speaking on Business : From Scratch
From Scratch is a restaurant in Salt Lake City known for making their buns, dough, pasta and bread all in house.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
In recent years, the terms “homemade” and “from scratch” have become synonymous with quality food, in support of the artisan food movement. From Scratch restaurant in Salt Lake City has found its audience by tapping into this movement.
General Manager Jared Davidson says From Scratch is making their buns, dough, pasta and bread all in house. The original owners moved to Utah from France and wanted to create an artisan French bakery, so they shipped a flour mill and the furniture you’ll see in the restaurant. With a change in ownership, From Scratch has switched its focus from bakery items to a full menu, serving lunch and dinner. They’re known for their burgers, sandwiches, pizza and pasta, which can be regular or vegan.
A recent ranking put Salt Lake City as one of the top 50 places in the country to open a restaurant, and From Scratch is a great example of why. The wood-fired bread and pizza are their top-sellers, especially the Whiteout Pizza made with alfredo sauce, Mozzarella, Parmesan and ricotta cheese, with garlic and basil.
Friday and Saturday nights are their busiest times – and once the Gallivan Center starts their summer concert series and the Twilight Concert Series launches, it’s standing room only at From Scratch, so try them now.
