Speaking on Business: Evergreene Management
Evergreene Management, or EMG, is a property management company that specializes in affordable housing.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Utah’s population is growing and is projected to double by 2065, according to Utah Business. This impressive growth is already having a significant impact on housing, especially pricing on homes and rentals. This makes the work Evergreene Management Group, or EMG, in Murray is doing timely and important, as the manager of multi-family affordable housing properties.
Owners Azure Howe, Wendy Pickering and Candice Swanger are operating this property management company which manages 5,000 residential units and 135,000 square feet of commercial space. Since these are mainly affordable housing units, EMG has partnered with organizations across the community to help people searching for less expensive housing, like foster care groups and organizations serving veterans, refugees and those experiencing a disability. Azure says affordable housing is suffering from a huge shortage with over 40,000 units in demand, so there’s a wait list to get into most of the units EMG manages.
By the way, these units are all built and maintained by developers who continue to apply for these projects as a way to give back to the community, like Giv Developers and ArtSpace, which is providing housing and workspace for artists and other nonprofit groups. EMG is approaching its 30th anniversary with 130 employees.
