Speaking on Business: Meraki Greek Street Food
Meraki Greek Street Food is known for the high quality of Greek food, made with a modern twist.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
At Meraki Greek Street Food in Boise, the secret to their success, is their tzatziki sauce, made from a secret family recipe. In fact, it was this sauce that inspired the creation of the business. Owner Aki Kalatzakis, who owns the business with his wife, Farrah, learned it from his father, a retired Mediterranean executive chef, and says the difference is in their sauce is prepared, with Greek yogurt, strained for two days, as well as fresh local ingredients, like cucumber and dill.
This restaurant shows the strong family commitment from Aki and Farrah to this industry. Many of these are family recipes, made from scratch, that have been passed down. Farrah spent 13 years in restaurant management and brings that expertise to Meraki Greek Street Food, where they’re known for the high quality of Greek food, made with a modern twist, like Greek nachos, made with pita chips, topped with grilled gyro meat, peppers, onions, spices and their fabulous tzatziki sauce. And the authentic gyros that come in pork, chicken or lamb, made with marinated all-natural meats stacked by hand.
This restaurant has been so well received that within just two months of opening in 2016 the Idaho Statesman named Meraki Greek Street Food as one of the Top 10 New Restaurants in Boise.
