Speaking on Business: Rock Slide Engineering
Rock Slide Engineering in Logan creates and designs custom accessories for the off-road market.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
While in high school, Dave Luman did a four-year apprenticeship with a German toolmaker where he developed a natural curiosity and ability to tinker with creating new innovations. This skillset is perfect for him in his position as a President and CEO of Rock Slide Engineering in Logan which creates and designs custom accessories for the off-road market.
The niche for Rock Slide Engineering is the Jeep Wrangler. This creative team has developed components to customize your Jeep, like their patented Step Slider. This is a 12-inch power step that allows east access to the Jeep Wrangler, even if it’s been lifted, and when the power step is retracted, it protects the body of the Jeep while off-roading. This means anybody can get in and out of the Jeep, so it can now be used for daily driving as well as off-roading.
The product is so innovative, there’s nothing like it on the market, and Rock Slide Engineering holds a patent for it, so they’re the only company that can build the step. In addition to Jeeps, the step slider can be used for pickup trucks and SUVs, basically any vehicle that has been raised off the ground, so it’s easier to climb in. One of the first customers for Whiterock was GM who wanted it exclusively for their trucks.
