Speaking on Business: Millcreek City
Millcreek is Utah's 10th largest city and the seventh largest city in Salt Lake County.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
As the first mayor of one of Utah’s newest cities, Jeff Silvestrini is ready to be at the helm of Millcreek City and feels the city is headed in a great direction. One of the first and most strategic steps has been writing a general plan to guide city development. It’s been a two-year process with dozens of meetings and high public engagement that covers everything from housing availability and development, to air quality.
With a population of 62,000, Millcreek is Utah’s 10th largest city and is the 7th largest city in Salt Lake County. It was two years ago that voters decided by a margin of 2:1 to officially incorporate as a city, and the first Millcreek city government took office in Jan. 2017 with Jeff Silvestrini as mayor. An attorney by profession, he spent years practicing civil law and litigation but loves being mayor full-time. He’s been a community activist for years, serving on both the community and township council and active in volunteer politics, so he feels strongly about leading Millcreek into the future.
An important area of focus for Millcreek is redeveloping the area east of the Brickyard development on 3300 South and 1300 East to turn it into a town center for Millcreek that will last for generations to come.
