Speaking on Business: Sun Valley Film Festival
The Sun Valley Film Festival is bringing together filmmakers and special guests from around the world.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
After 7 years, the Sun Valley Film Festival continues to gain local and national attention and is putting Idaho on the map in the national film festival circuit. It’s already gained notoriety and this year is hosting and recognizing well-known movie stars like Meg Ryan and Adam Paul.
This year’s festival kicks off on March 13 and runs through March 17. As a rising star among boutique festivals, the Sun Valley Film Festival is bringing together filmmakers and special guests from around the world for a weekend with intimate talks from industry insiders, film and television screenings and great parties.
This year’s event will honor industry icon Meg Ryan with the Sun Valley Film Festival Vision Award for her famous work with When Harry met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve got Mail and dozens of other hit movies. Emmy-award winning actor and Idaho native Aaron Paul will receive this year’s Pioneer Award for his masterful work with Breaking Bad, The Path and Bojack Horseman. Directors Alex Ross and Fisher Stevens will also be recognized during the event.
The Sun Valley Film Festival includes a competition for works in progress, talks from industry veterans, music performances and new this year, 1 Potato, an effort to support Idaho films and filmmakers in a short-script competition.
