Speaking on Business: Whole Kids Emotional Wellness
Whole Kids Emotional Wellness is working with kids from 3 to 18 who are dealing with any kind of challenge, from trauma to severe anxiety and depression.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Our kids today are facing emotional challenges; in fact, anxiety disorders affect 1 in 8 children with research showing that these children are at higher risk of doing poorly in school. Plus, preparing for a potential school shooting is stressful to kids. Haylee Bladen has been working in the mental health field for years, and after seeing the long-term affect childhood issues can have, she started Whole Kids Emotional Wellness and now has a team of 10.
At Whole Kids Emotional Wellness, the focus is working with kids from 3 to 18 dealing with any kind of challenge, from trauma to severe anxiety and depression, with the goal to help them develop better coping skills. In addition to individual and family therapy, the team offers therapy groups and skills groups for kids and teens. Because this is such involved work, Haylee focuses on self-care for her team and has hosted retreats to keep everybody happy and healthy.
Through partnering with a charter school, Whole Kids Emotional Wellness is working with 350 students, teaching emotional intelligence and regulating your emotions. Haylee says there’s nothing more rewarding than watching your client transform, like her 16-year-old client with anxiety levels so she couldn’t attend school. After working with Whole Kids and learning to change her thinking, she successfully graduated from high school.
