Speaking on Business: The English Garden
The English Garden is one of the pioneer businesses at Library Square, known for fresh flower arrangements, live plants and blooming container gardens.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Like so many small businesses, The English Garden in Salt Lake City started out of passion; in this case, the excitement and skill of owner and founder Ximena Tan. She loves floral design and was creating blooming creations in her garage to sell at the Farmer’s Market that were so popular, they would sell out. When librarians from the brand-new City Library in Downtown discovered her work, they encouraged her to apply for one of the shops in the new library, and she did.
Today, 16 years later, The English Garden is one of the pioneer businesses at Library Square. It’s a favorite with locals and visitors and is ranked as one of Salt Lake City’s top floral shops, known for fresh flower arrangements, live plants and blooming container gardens for all occasions, which are all Ximena’s original design work. They offer same-day delivery throughout the Salt Lake City area.
The English Garden remains a locally-owned family business operated by Ximena and her husband, Lyndon Tan. He credits Ximena as the backbone of the business since she is constantly creating beautiful terrariums, gardens and fresh flower arrangements that their customers love. The English Garden is a beautiful example of our small businesses that drive growth in the Utah economy.
