The health and fitness industry in the United States is booming right now, sitting at $30 billion and growing by 4 percent annually for 10 years running, with no signs of slowing down, according to Forbes. So, it was insightful for Allen Traylor to open UpCycle in downtown Boise two years ago.
UpCycle is an indoor fitness studio offering group fitness classes like cycling, TRX, yoga, HIIT and Barre, which are offered all day, from early morning to evening with 30-minute express classes you can do on your lunch. Allen says their team includes 15 dynamic instructors who are so talented they have a high rate of retention at UpCycle, in an industry that traditionally struggles to maintain clients. In starting UpCycle, Allen came from a completely different industry, and his goal was to build his business from scratch, so he could design his fitness studio to his specifications.
Allen is focused on continuous improvement by creating an advisory council of gym members at UpCycle that he meets with quarterly to find out how to improve the customer experience. He also created the Empower Pass with 12 studios in town, which is designed so members can work out at any fitness facility that fits their fitness goals or needs.
