Speaking on Business: Idaho Small Business Development Center
The Small Business Development Center of Idaho offers no-cost professional consulting services for small businesses.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
With such a strong economy in Idaho, the Gem State is in the national spotlight. In fact, Forbes Magazine recently named Boise as the fastest-growing city in 2018. So, that makes it an excellent time to launch a business in Idaho, and the Small Business Development Center, or SBDC, of Idaho is supporting this growth by offering no-cost professional consulting services for small businesses looking to start, focus and grow.
To give an idea of the impact of the SBDC of Idaho, this year they’ve helped 69 businesses start, raised $28 million in capital, helped create almost 450 jobs and drive almost $40 million in sales growth. Will Fowler, interim state director and entrepreneur initiative manager, says these are full-time salaried consultants who are retired or semi-retired from successful careers and love the challenge of helping small businesses. By laying the foundation for a successful launch or increasing sales, this translates to revenue and business growth, which benefits the Idaho economy.
The Idaho SBDC offers skills-based training to help companies learn to use Quikbooks or write a marketing plan, and they provide more structured programs. In addition to consulting, they have two business accelerators housing 30 startup companies.
