It was almost 20 years ago that Paula and Joe Sargetakis decided they wanted to create an urban organic farm. They spent years educating themselves and 10 years ago they found the perfect property, and they’re now the owners of Frog Bench Farms in Salt Lake City, grown on two acres in downtown.

At Frog Bench Farms they grow fruits, nuts, herbs and veggies and have a small vineyard on site, so this is designed as a diversified urban organic farm. Their original goal was to create a Community-Supported Agriculture operation to sell their produce to locals, which was Paula’s inspiration for creating their farm. However, due to size and concern of traffic from this kind of operation, Frog Bench Farms decided to sell their produce directly to restaurants and caterers with some of the restaurants supporting them from the beginning, like Pago restaurant group.

Paula says their goal is to grow a beautiful plate at Frog Bench Farms, so you’ll find a lot of colors like micro greens and peppers that are brown, orange, yellow and green. As for fruit, they have melons, pears, plums, peaches, blackberries and paw-paws, a fruit native to this area that’s like a kiwi.
