Speaking on Business: Candy Cane Corner
Candy Cane Corner is a popup store that provides an opportunity for low-income families and individuals experiencing hardship to shop for holiday gifts.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
In a time of hardship, the focus is on necessities so spending money on holiday shopping is extra. The team at YWCA Utah, The Road Home and Volunteers of America Utah is bringing the holiday spirit to individuals and families through the Candy Cane Corner.
Candy Cane Corner is a popup store that provides an opportunity for low-income families and individuals who are participating in programs at the YWCA Utah, The Road Home and Volunteers of America, Utah to shop for holiday gifts. This personal and dignified opportunity is met with a deep sense of gratitude from the over 3,000 individuals and 800 families who had a chance to shop for a loved one. All items in the store come through donations, which are needed and accepted throughout the holiday season.
Some of the items Candy Cane Corner is most in need of include underwear, diapers, clothing and shoes for kids and teens; household items like dish sets, sheet sets, pots and pans and coffee makers; stocking stuffers; and adult women and men’s clothing in all sizes, plus wrapping paper and boxes so families can wrap items they select from Candy Cane Corner. All donations should be new and unwrapped and can be delivered to YWCA or The Road Home.
