In the United States today, over 2.5 million businesses are majority-owned by veterans, employing over 5 million people as they create approximately $1 trillion in revenue for the U.S. economy every year.

To support this growing demographic of business owners, the Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs is holding their annual Utah Veteran Business Conference on May 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Miller Campus of Salt Lake Community College, 9750 S. 300 West in Sandy. This event is open to any veteran, their spouses or dependents who are thinking of starting a business or are already operating one. The conference is a forum to connect veterans with business resources and education so they can support their success in the marketplace.

The keynote speaker for the conference is Mark Eaton, former NBA All-Star, motivational speaker, entrepreneur and author, and the first 200 guests will receive a copy of his new book “The Four Commitments of a Winning Team.” Information on available local and national resources and networking are an important part of the conference.

The conference is sponsored by the Utah Veteran Owned Business Coalition, which is a collection of agencies dedicated to helping veterans and service members so they can be successful in business endeavors.
