Utah is known for being an active community that supports arts, big events and sports. In the last 14 years, that has meant embracing our Major League Soccer team, Real Salt Lake. In fact, this season marks the 10th anniversary of the beautiful Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, where the team holds home games.
Since coming to Salt Lake and holding their first game in April 2005, Real Salt Lake has experienced strong support from Utah’s business community, with a dedicated fan base that includes 15,000 season ticket holders who love our talented players known throughout the league. By bringing well-known soccer players into the state for games, putting Utah on the map.
Chief Business Officer Andy Carroll says Real Salt Lake has been busy in the last six months with milestones like opening the $78 million Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, the daily training home for both men’s professional teams, as well as a residence, school and training home for Academy boys teams. Not to mention re-signing popular head coach Mike Petke and launching a professional women’s soccer team, the FC Royals, with 5,000 season ticket holders. Real Salt Lake partnered with KSL to create an innovative new streaming app for digital distribution of televised games.
