Speaking on Business: Superior Drilling Products
Superior Drilling Products developed the first commercially viable process to remanufacture PDC drill bits.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Troy Meier knew he needed to find a great trade to provide for his family. So, he found a good company, learned the trade and when that company was bought out in the early 90s, he started Superior Drilling Products. Now, 25 years later his successful organization in Vernal has 60 employees and is shipping their innovative product internationally.
During its inception, Superior Drilling Products developed the first commercially viable process to remanufacture PDC drill bits, used for the oil and gas industry. Since then, Superior has continued to innovate as they have served many companies throughout the industry, including some of the most technologically advanced. That spirit of adapting and innovation led them to introduce a patented product that allows horizontal well bores to be conditioned while drilling. This improvement in downhole operations, of conditioning the hole while drilling, is saving oil and gas operators significant time and money.
While they’ve faced the same challenges in the last few years, Troy says what’s helped Superior Drilling Products be successful is his ability to manage his business for the future, meaning he invests in his employees, his company and the right equipment. He values his team members’ opinions and respects their ability to perform their job, which helps them take pride in what they do.
