Speaking on Business: Red Sands Hotel
The Red Sands Hotel and Spa is designed to be a high-class hotel experience with all the amenities for a comfortable stay.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
How’s this for determination? After losing his job in the development and mortgage industry in the downturn in 2008, Dave Christensen needed a new career. He researched foreclosed properties, discovered a hotel for sale in Torrey, Utah, gateway for the world-famous Capitol Reef State Park, came to his wife, Amber, and announced, “We’re going to buy a hotel.” This was without any previous experience or connection to the hotel industry. They now own the Red Sands Hotel in Torrey and a second property in McCall, Idaho.
At the time, funding was difficult to secure. They were living off income from the salon Amber owned but believed so strongly in what they were doing, they raised finances through family, friends and private investors, who lent them the money to buy their hotel. The project took off, and the Christensens have since expanded the Red Sands Hotel, adding rooms, meeting spaces, a restaurant and a full-service spa.
The Red Sands Hotel and Spa is designed to be a high-class hotel experience with all the amenities for a comfortable stay, like free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, a mini-fridge and microfiber sheets in all the rooms. And next year, the Christensens will open the Silver Tree Lodge in McCall in addition to the Red Sands in Torrey.
