This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Jack Jones has an impressive success story starting at a young age. Married at 18, he’d been told all through school that he was lazy because he had a learning disability but no one knew. So, he set out to prove everyone wrong, learning to work harder than anyone else and taking classes at Salt Lake Community College where he learned upholstery work. He was such a quick study that Jack picked up jobs he would complete in his garage at night and on weekends. He got so busy, he was giving work to his teacher! This became the humble beginning of Jack’s Do It Shop.
It was 40 years ago when he created Jack’s Do It Shop and this upholstery operation is now in the second generation of family involvement and has done work for major organizations like Facebook and Nike. If you need something fixed, Jack is your guy! With his impressive work intensity combined with an insatiable curiosity, there’s almost nothing he can’t repair.
Today, this family-owned operation, located in Holladay, incudes Jack, his wife Judy, and three of their kids. Jack’s Do It Shop’s expertise with upholstery includes cars, boats, furniture and booths in restaurants. You can see their work in locations like Clark Planetarium, Abravanel Hall, Intermountain Healthcare, the Dee Events Center and Costa Vida. What a great Utah business story!
