Speaking on Business: Denise’s Home Plate
Denise’s Home Plate is a local favorite, known for their delicious homemade lunch choices.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
When she started her business 30 plus years ago, Denise Pace had no intention of opening a restaurant, because the plan was to do only catering. However, the quality of food she makes speaks for itself, and there was so much demand, she finally gave in, bought a house on Main Street in Coalville and opened Denise’s Home Plate.
Today, Denise’s Home Plate is a local favorite, known for their delicious homemade lunch choices that include daily hot specials like chicken enchiladas, soups wraps, salads and burgers. She is proud that everything here is made from scratch, including homemade hamburger buns. Customers love the rolls and pies made on order, like the banana cream pie, with a custard slowly stirred on the stove to give it just the right texture and taste. Denise’s Home Plate is also a full-service caterer and handles weddings and corporate events. Not to mention, they have a concession trailer, so you’ll see Denise’s Home Plate at U of U home football games and county fairs.
In such a tight-knit community like Coalville, Denise likes to say she knows what most of the locals eat. She has some people who call in and request their special cheeseburger or “a Becky special”, and her 15 part-time employees know exactly what the request means.
