Speaking on Business: Intermountain Healthcare
Intermountain Healthcare is known across the nation for their quality of care.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
With the recent appointment of Dr. Marc Harrison as the president and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare, Utah gained access to the wide range of health and medical experience that he brings to the table. Like being the chief of International Business Development for Cleveland Clinic, which includes his role as a key player in developing the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in United Arab Emirates. This clinic recently performed the first ever kidney and liver transplants in that country, thanks to Dr. Harrison’s vision and leadership.
Utah is benefitting from this extensive international experience, which contributes to our state’s reputation for innovative and affordable healthcare, known nationwide. Dr. Harrison says patients are always at the center of the care they’re providing. The team, which includes 39,000 caregivers, is constantly innovating to discover new healthcare models. For example, telehealth uses digital technology such as computers and mobile devices to offer remote healthcare access, like phone or virtual doctor visits. Intermountain currently offers over 100 telehealth products, especially for rural areas. They’re also focused on better treatment for acute pain and improving chronic pain solutions.
With 22 hospitals, Intermountain Healthcare takes care of half of all Utahns every year and touches 75 percent of the population at some point in their lifetime.
