Speaking on Business: American Batsmith
American Batsmith is providing high-quality wooden bats for anybody who is a serious baseball player.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Jake Huff believes anybody who is a serious baseball player can have the same quality bat as a professional player, so he’s providing a high-quality wooden bat with his business, American Batsmith.
As a kid growing up in Idaho, Jake loved playing baseball but didn’t have funds to buy a professional-grade bat, so he made his own. He grew up with the family value of being resourceful so he would take broken tools on the farm, turn them into baseball bats and use rocks for balls. His mission with American Batsmith is for baseball players at any stage in the sport to have access to high-quality bats for an affordable price.
Jake researched the different types of wood to offer only the best that will feel like an extension of your hands. He says this is a difference you have to feel, so he schedules demos with American Batsmith so you can feel the difference in the swing. Jake’s vision has always been to get his bats in Major League Baseball, so he has structured his company from the beginning following the specifications needed for MLB and says he’s a little over a year out from seeing professionals use his bats.
With Jake’s brother, Evan, and cousin, Caleb, involved, American Batsmith is very much a family-operated business.
