Getting a higher education should be attainable at any age, an idea embraced by Treasure Valley Community College in Caldwell. This two-year college is offering a great educational opportunity for students of all ages with one-year certificates and associate degrees. The student population includes many non-traditional students returning to school, so programs are available in the evenings and online to fit student need, as they seek opportunities for career advancement.
Treasure Valley Community College is a mission-driven college offering over 80 programs with hundreds of classes taught by distinguished faculty members. Kaitlin Brookshire, director of TVCC’s Center in Caldwell and Burns, Oregon, says they’re known for their applied studies, like natural resources and manufacturing. There’s also nursing, medical assisting and business degrees, not to mention the pilot training program, which sets this junior college apart.
With the main campus in Ontario, Oregon, and several satellite locations, including the Caldwell center is a focus for expansion with a new facility that opened in 2011. The need for a college degree remains high, since USA today reported that on average, college grads earned nearly 60 percent more than high school grads. Organizations like Treasure Valley Community College are working to fill this need.
