The Utah Food Bank Summer Food Drive is a critical way they’re working to raise necessary donations for families in need.

Everybody deserves to eat, and according to the Utah Food Bank, 1 in 6 Utah children are food insecure, meaning they may not know where their next meal is coming from. This time of year is especially challenging because when school’s out many of Utah’s children ages 18 and younger lose access to school breakfast and lunch programs and are left with limited access to nutrition food, so the Utah Food Bank sees an increased demand as these families need access to food.
Summer is traditionally a time when families think of vacations and recreation, so it’s also the time when donations are at their lowest, so the Utah Food Bank Summer Food Drive is a critical way they’re working to raise necessary donations because in one year alone, they distribute nearly 40 million pounds of food to assist those in need.
The Utah Food Bank deeply appreciates business and corporations of all sizes organizing interactive and fun company-wide food and fund drives to help fill the Utah Food Bank’s sparse shelves in the summer. This can include inviting employees, family, friends and the community to help collect and donate food.
