Speaking on Business: Soldier Hollow Classic
The Soldier Hollow Classic features some of the world's best sheepdogs who come to Utah to compete.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Coming up this Labor Day weekend check out some of the world’s best sheepdogs who come to Utah to compete at the Soldier Hollow Classic in Heber City, now in its 16th year. These impressive dogs must qualify to complete, and the event is so well-known, it attracts teams from all over the world!
Working as far as 400 yards from their handler, these dogs use precision to gather wild range Rocky Mountain ewes, bringing them down the mountainside through free-standing gates. At the end, the dog separates certain sheep from others before placing them into the small pen … in under 13 minutes! The Soldier Hollow Classic is a fan favorite.
You’ll want to see the final on Labor Day when the top dogs face off in the Grand Championship. The Vita Bone Shootout at the Soldier Hollow Classic brings back the top 10 dogs, and the crowd of thousands of visitors loves it.
In addition to the world-famous sheepdog championship, there’s wet ‘n wild splash dogs, high-flying’ K9 kings and an agility dog competition where dogs go through an obstacle course with only their owner’s voice and motions to guide them. There’s also delicious food with over 15 American and ethnic food booths and traditional Scottish music at the Soldier Hollow Classic.
