Speaking on Business: Idaho Technology Council
The mission of the Idaho Technology Council is to help companies in Idaho start, grow and thrive while supporting Idaho’s technology ecosystem.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Tech industry employment in Idaho grew by almost 3 percent in 2017, the 5th highest percentage increase in the nation, according to Cyberstates 2018. The tech sector is responsible for nearly 10 percent of the overall economy in the Gem State, ranking third behind only manufacturing and government. This makes the work the Idaho Technology Council is doing, as the state’s tech hub, so critically important.
The mission of the Idaho Technology Council is to help companies in Idaho start, grow and thrive while supporting Idaho’s technology ecosystem. They’re working to grow the talent pipeline to fill available jobs with all three major Idaho higher education institutions and community colleges while providing access to capital and assisting with commercialization of R&D projects. Vice-President of Development Heidi Jarvis-Grimes says the Idaho Technology Council is the voice for industry in the state.
If you’re a startup looking for grant money, the Idaho Technology Council can help with that too. They track grants while working closely with government agencies to help advocate for grant support. They’re also responsible for the Deal Flow Report, a compilation of all deals disclosed in the state of Idaho in one year … over $2.4 billion in 2017.
