Speaking on Business: Pioneer Theatre Company
Pioneer Theatre Company is known for their work creating Broadway-quality shows.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
The first time he came to Utah, to interview for a position as managing director of Pioneer Theater Company, Chris Lino had traveled the world…except the Intermountain West. He fell in love with the Beehive State and decided to take the plunge and move here. Under his leadership, Pioneer Theatre has gained a national reputation for fiscal health, high-quality productions and has over 6,000 season ticket holders as Utah’s premiere professional theater company.
You probably know Pioneer Theatre Company for their work creating Broadway-quality shows. Right now, they’re showing Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”, followed by “Mamma Mia!” which closes the season.
Over his 28-year tenure, Chris credits his most significant accomplishments to artistic partnerships, a great community and generous volunteers. One of his major successes was participating in the passage of the Zoo Arts and Parks Program, which now provides financial support for hundreds of cultural organizations in Salt Lake County. What sealed the deal for him to stay in Utah so long was marrying his sweetheart, Colleen, a native Utahn.
A national search is underway to find Chris’ replacement before his retirement in next summer. He and Artistic Director Karen Azenberg packed the final season with critically-acclaimed musicals, like “Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” and “Once”.
