Speaking on Business: Taffy Town
Taffy Town has 80 flavors of Salt Water Taffy, which is a Utah classic.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
When James Vernon Glade started a candy company in 1916, he created an iconic symbol of Utah … Salt Water Taffy. By using a mixing and preparation process, he created a soft taffy designed to melt in your mouth. Over 100 years later, his company, Taffy Town is a Utah classic and is in the fourth generation of family leadership with James’ great grandson, Jason Glade, as the CEO.
Taffy Town has 80 flavors of Salt Water Taffy like caramel apple, pumpkin pie, maple bacon, frosted cupcake, banana and peanut butter and jelly, which debuted this year. They also have flavors like eggnog and peppermint for the holidays. For their local audience, they created a Bear Lake Raspberry flavored taffy, and Utahns love it! With the increase in food allergies and stricter FDA regulations, Jason says they’re proud to offer gluten and nut free products.
To accommodate their growth and their 50 employees, Taffy Town left Salt Lake City and moved to a brand-new facility in West Jordan earlier this year, which includes retail. You can find Taffy Town products in grocery stores throughout the U.S. and internationally in Canada, Mexico, Korea and England.
Visit Taffy Town on their Facebook page and at taffytown.com.
