Speaking on Business: Dunford Bakers
Dunford Bakers is one of the largest independently owned, full-line bakeries in the Intermountain West.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
As a widow with three young sons to raise, Hazel Dunford started baking bread just to make ends meet. People loved her bread so much she opened Dunford Bakers in 1931. As business grew, she brought Paul Stevens on board, and now his son, John, is the current CEO.
Dunford Bakers is one of the largest independently owned, full-line bakeries in the Intermountain West. They’ve developed recipes for high-quality baked goods, focusing on food safety and taking care of employees as top priorities. Because of partnerships for baked goods with 7/11 and associated bakeries throughout North America, the business operates 365 days a year. They believe their 200 employees are their best asset, so treating them right is critical. Dunford Bakers loves to support local and purchases the majority of the 13 million pounds of flour they use annually from Bar J Milling in Brigham City.
Their baked goods include rolls, buns, cookies, brownies and donuts, including their famous chocolate cake donuts. Dunford Bakers products are in grocery stores statewide, or at their retail store in West Jordan at 8500 S. 2900 West, where folks line up for fresh baked goods, including bread for $1.15 a loaf.
