Speaking on Business: Veterans Business Resource Center
In Utah alone we have 17,000 veteran-owned businesses statewide.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
In the United States today, a growing demographic is veteran-owned small businesses, which employ 5 million people and have an annual payroll of $195 million. In Utah alone we have 17,000 veteran-owned businesses statewide, and now there’s a new resource to support this group, the Veterans Business Resource Center.
Director Jackie Hobson says the Veterans Business Resource Center, or VBRC, located in Sandy on the Miller Campus of Salt Lake Community College, is designed to provide resources specific to veterans. Jackie’s responsibility is to direct you to find government contracts. In addition, the VBRC works closely with the Utah Veteran-Owned Business Partnership that started three years ago, which was a driving force in launching this resource for veterans. They’re also developing the veteran entrepreneur network on Facebook for veteran business owners to network with one another.
Jackie is the perfect choice as the director for the Veterans Business Resource Center. A vet herself, she has launched multiple successful businesses and was introduced to the idea of a center for veterans while completing her MBA at UVU. She’s loved watching the idea come to fruition, and so far, people have been very excited and feel a need for this service.
