This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
Small business is the backbone of our economy, and as a consumer, you can choose to support them. Every day across the United States, small businesses are creating jobs, driving innovation and building communities.
Zions Bank’s commitment to our community is demonstrated by making loans to small businesses and, once again, during the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2017 fiscal year, which ended last fall. Zions ranked No. 1.
For 16 consecutive years, Zions Bank has ranked as the top provider of SBA 7(a) loans in Idaho’s Boise District. In 2017, Zions Bank approved 104 SBA 7(a) loans in, totaling over $12 million in the district with another 10 loans in Northern Idaho valued at almost $3 million. And 21 percent of these loans went to women and minority-owned businesses.
According to the State of Small Business report, small businesses with less than 500 employees comprise 99 percent of all U.S. employer firms. Many small businesses report that obtaining capital remains a challenge. That’s one reason Zions Bank is dedicated to supporting this economic growth engine in Idaho.
Today’s entrepreneurs need support from organizations like Zions Bank. They’re creating a new business, which strengthens and grows the economy. When we choose to do business with small companies, we boost the local tax base and improve quality of life.
