Speaking on Business: Statues.com
Statues.com is known for creating white-bonded marble sculptures but also offers bronze casting.
This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
We couldn’t have imagined a company built on the Internet 25 years ago, but that’s how Vasili and Victoria Karpos created their business, statues.com, based in Salt Lake City. At the time, the Internet was brand new, and they decided to develop an online business to serve the custom statue market. As soon as they purchased their domain, requests started rolling in, and the business has grown from there.
Statues.com is most known for creating white-bonded marble sculptures, which has always been their expertise. This includes gift-size statues, like portrait busts of people, created for private and corporate clients, all the way up to life-size sculptures for universities. With growing demand, they expanded to include bronze casting, which has given them top-seller status.
Vasili is Greek, and his parents were in the classical art sculpture business, so he learned the art while growing up in Greece. After he came to Utah in the late 80s, he started developing the idea for an all-inclusive sculpture servicing business here and then launched statues.com in 1993, in partnership with Victoria. They’re now serving customers in the U.S. and worldwide, so you’ll find their work in South America, Nigeria, Ghana, the U.K., Canada and Dubai.
