As long-time customers themselves, owners and business partners Nick Morris and Lance Smith brought a unique perspective to Kaffe Mercantile when they bought it 8 years ago. They knew the focus needed to be on coffee and the café, so that’s the direction they took the coffee shop under their leadership … and the strategy worked. Kaffe Mercantile has become such a destination for their dedicated customer base, they’ve expanded, with plans to open their third location in downtown Ogden at Washington Boulevard and 23rd Street.

They’re famous for the delicious fruit turnovers, handmade by Lance’s mom, Sharon, every day which come in cherry, raspberry, blueberry, peach and pumpkin flavors. Kaffe Mercantile continues to be a local favorite for specialty drinks like cocoa, coffee, espresso, tea, Italian soda and steamers. Customers also love the café, which offers breakfast and light lunch items, with sandwiches that are a big hit. They sell a lot of muffins, cinnamon rolls and other homemade pastries.

Another change for Kaffe Mercantile is that it’s the current home for Lavender Kitchen, a vegan-based bakery. They’re offering vegan pastries in the coffee shop that are a huge draw for customers and are taking special orders for the holidays.
