Alex Eaton, executive director of the Community Foundation of Utah, believes in this organization’s ability to be an important financial resource for our community.

The Community Foundation of Utah is a non-profit that connects people that have resources to causes they believe in, creating lasting changes for Utah. The Community Foundation partners with donors who have money and want to give to groups doing good. They help these donors find causes to support without having to research or facilitate donations themselves. It gives the donor a meaningful direction for their donation funds by supporting their philosophy and provides a tax break.

When Alex visited Utah for the first time, she fell in love. So, when an opportunity came up to manage the Community Foundation of Utah, she decided to use her years of experience with Goldman Sachs to grow philanthropy.

The Community Foundation of Utah can help donors set up a charitable fund, connecting them to where they choose to make a donation. Last year they brought in $22 million through referrals, and Alex plans to grow this to $100 million in the next five years. The foundation’s work and what they’re doing is strategic and thoughtful in coordinating donors and the business community with their giving impact, contributing to why Utah is being called a “purpose economy.”
