Some folks may not realize that Utah has a team of highly-effective executives who recruit businesses to our state through EDCUtah. The Economic Development Corporation of Utah takes on the responsibility to help grow our economy and create jobs with strategic recruitment of businesses, under the leadership and creativity of President and CEO Theresa Foxley.

A lawyer by trade and a previous state government employee, Theresa came on board just under a year ago and has revitalized the team. This diverse and dynamic group works hard and fast, and in the last year, saw their efforts result in 34 business project wins, like bringing in Snap, Inc and Litehouse. In total, these companies have committed to create approximately 9,500 jobs, invest nearly $1 billion in Utah and will absorb over 6 million feet of real estate.

The site selection process involves a high trust factor with Theresa and her team. Many of these businesses come into the state anonymously while checking to see if Utah fits for their organization, and to keep visits confidential, business projects with EDCUtah are given a code name until decisions are finalized. In addition to attracting new business, EDCUtah continues to develop key industries, like information technology, life sciences and healthcare analytics, which typically offer higher wages.
