The healthcare industry is one of the few career fields that continues to hire no matter what the economic situation is. Healthcare jobs are expected to grow faster than any other industry, approximately 22 percent or 3.2 million new jobs by 2018, according to monster.com. Roseman University of Health Sciences in South Jordan is helping fill this need.
Roseman University has over 1,500 students and 400 employees. This non-profit educational facility has four educational programs: a nursing program, an MBA program, a pharmacy program, and a college of dental medicine. Dr. Martin Lipsky, university chancellor, says they’re a competency-based curriculum, so all programs are focused on providing students with real-life experience. They have a pass rate for healthcare exams above the national average. And their grads are getting jobs, since they have a high placement rate.
The pharmacy program is accelerated so it’s completed in three years. One of the shifts in nursing is the need for a bachelor’s degree, so Roseman University has added a new program to take someone from being a registered nurse to a nursing degree. They were the first dental accredited school in Utah and now have over 2,000 applicants for 82 spots, so they’re confident in their programming and look for the right kind of student.
