Where children and academic achievement are concerned, there’s nothing a parent wouldn’t do to ensure their child’s success. Alene Villaneda of Integrated Learning Strategies in Kaysville has dedicated her professional life to helping students improve their learning.

The goal at Integrated Learning Strategies is to help kids develop the basic educational foundation so they can do well in school. However, Alene says an academic issue often has an underlying issue. So, she works to identify what the lower-level issue is so they can move on to higher-level development, like reading, comprehension or math. For example, a reading challenge may indicate a problem with the eye, and her team can help strengthen that muscle just like any other in the body.

Figuring out how to best help each child is like putting together a puzzle and fitting the pieces together. Each child who comes to Integrated Learning Strategies receives a personal evaluation to determine their level of development and what programs will allow them to function at an even higher level. As Alene says, improving brain function equals improved intelligence which equates to enhanced academic success and overall quality of life.

In the five years since she launched the business in this form, Alene says Integrated Learning Strategies has steadily grown, with six employees. Find them online at ilslearning.com.
