Speaking on Business: Contender Bicycles
Ryan Littlefied thinks electric bikes are only going to continue growing in popularity, especially as people realize they still offer a great workout, just with a little extra push.

Ryan Littlefied, owner of Contender Bicycles at 9th and 9th in Salt Lake City in partnership with his wife, Alison, says one of the areas of growth at his bike shop is electric bikes. Some people are skeptical at first, once they try the bikes, they love them! They carry three brands, and Ryan thinks electric bikes are only going to continue growing in popularity, especially as people realize they still offer a great workout, just with a little extra push.
While their most important brand is their own, Contender Bicycles, Ryan says one of their specialties is not being a one-brand store. They sponsor a variety of brands because they want customers to have a choice.
For the eighth year in a row, Contender is excited to be offering their Training Program that brings science to indoor training. Since each participant has their own training zone, the program can help cyclists of all ages and levels improve while having fun. It starts in November and goes through March.
Community support is another important initiative for Contender Bicycles. Last year they worked with Kit Up Africa and collected 500 pounds of riding gear for African cyclists. They’re also involved with the Tour of Utah, raising money for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, so community support is at their core.
