The U.S. economy ended 2017 by adding 148,000 jobs in December. While this was lower than expected, it capped-off a solid year of labor market gains and positions the U.S. well for 2018. In addition to an improving economy, the U.S. Congress ended the year by passing the most comprehensive tax reform in nearly 30 years. While there have been policy debates surrounding the reform, numerous companies have already announced pay raises and one-time bonuses as a result of the tax plan.
