Summertime means sunshine and good times. But if you’re not careful, summertime could bring activities that can become pricy or even a bit boring. With the right guidance, your summer can be exciting without having to spend an arm and a leg on activities. One solution is to celebrate unique holidays in creative ways all summer long.

Normal calendars will tell you when the major national holidays are, like Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. But being able to celebrate the more obscure holidays will keep your summer exciting. Use a website like checkiday.com, or search for other lists, to learn about the more bizarre holidays like Lumpy Rug Day (May 3rd) and Bad Poetry Day (August 18th).

Many of the days during the summer have a fun holiday attached to it that you might not have heard of, but can celebrate for cheap. For example, on May 8th, you can celebrate No Socks Day by simply leaving your socks off and giving your toes a breath of fresh air. If you have a beach nearby, take an enjoyable walk in the sand. Or if you don’t have a beach, go to a grassy park and take in the sunshine. There are so many places you can go on No Socks Day.

A few days later is Love a Tree Day on May 16th. This is the perfect day to go out and find a tree that needs a little TLC. Give it some water, fertilizer, and a trim. Not only can this be a fun activity to do with your family or friends, but it is also very helpful to the environment.

Toward the end of May is National Grape Popsicle Day on May 27th. This is a really inexpensive holiday to celebrate. This holiday commemorates the taste, history, and culture of grape-flavored popsicles, and is a time to celebrate the grape flavor over the other flavors of popsicles. It’s easy to make your own grape popsicles and then eat them all day long.

Throughout the rest of the summer, you can find many great holidays to celebrate at a low cost. You will find that you won’t be paying for the same activities over and over again, and will be saving money. The more creative you get while celebrating these holidays, the more fun and excitement you will have during the summer.
