Zions Bank photo contest runs through Nov. 30
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah; November 19, 2013 — Amateur photographers can be rewarded for sharing their favorite images of the season in the Zions Bank Winter Wonderland photo contest.
The winner will get an evening on the town in Park City with $150 to spend at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and a suite at Hotel Park City. The top photo will also earn the winner bragging rights when it becomes the Zions Bank Facebook cover image for 60 days.
Snow shots like the one submitted by previous winner Taisley Weston were popular among last year’s entries. Photographer David Updike of Salt Lake City’s JayLynn Studios gives these three tips for shooting in the snow like a pro:
- Get close. When photographing people or objects, move in to make the most of contrast.
- Charge up. Cold weather drains batteries fast, so be sure to begin with a full charge.
- Work the angles. Shoot your subject from different angles to eliminate shadows.
Aspiring winners can also take inspiration from the Winter Wonderland contest video trailer.
Entries can be emailed to email@example.com through Nov. 30. Official rules apply. A public voting phase will follow to determine the contest winner. No purchase is necessary. Entrants must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of Utah or Idaho.
