Community Service Commitment

We want to be actively engaged in important community issues and to help provide creative solutions to community needs. Annually, Zions Bank employees generously contribute an estimated 50,000 hours to worthy organizations by serving on community boards, assisting with community programs, teaching students about finances and more. These volunteer hours add up to be worth nearly $1 million.

Surveys show that 90 percent of employees believe Zions Bank makes worthwhile contributions to the community. Zions Bank supports non-profit organizations throughout our banking region. We are committed to revitalizing our neighborhoods. Working with local communities and businesses, we offer a variety of lending, investment and service programs to improve the vitality of our communities. We get involved in our communities through grants, affiliations and activities to support development and success within a diverse population of employees, customers and consumers.

We encourage all employees to be active participants in their communities, and we provide various programs to help them do so:

  • The Zions Bank Paint-a-Thon is an annual event when employees and their families paint and spruce-up homes for those in need.
  • The Teach Children to Save Day is a bank-wide event designed to help K-12 students understand the importance of saving for the future.
  • United Way support comes through employee involvement in service projects and contributions to the annual campaign.
  • Bank the Vote is a non-partisan program that encourages employees to be active in the political process.

Local Leadership

We recognize that banking is a local business and that to be successful, we must maintain strong ties to the communities we serve and strong relationships with our clients.

We know that banking is a "people industry," and that relationships with clients are best built and nurtured on a local level. That's why Zions Bank empowers our community bankers. Relationship officers are trusted with credit authority (up to designated limits). The bank also receives valuable feedback from each community through Regional Advisory Boards, which help guide the direction of the bank and ensure the consideration of local interests.

Some examples of local leadership:

  • Local officers make credit approvals
  • Product pricing is locally established
  • Products are adjusted to fit individual market needs
  • Officers enjoy visibility in their communities
  • Charitable giving decisions are made at the local level
  • Sponsorships are determined locally
